Incidence of patients seen in the burn unit of the North Zone General Hospital of Puebla from 2009 to 2014
Abstract: Currently the number of patients hospitalized due to burn injuries in specialized units in Mexico is unknown, which shows why burned patients are not given the essential care and attention needed. Conducting a Deep and thorougt investigation of this nature is not only necessary but also detrimental to the development and continuous improvement of treatment, seeking mainly the benefit of these patients.
Material and methods:The strategy of our work was to do a retrospective review on all the data of the patients that were asmitted to the North Zone General Hospital´s specialized care unit from 2009 to 2014 documented on the hospital admissions book and the clinical archive.
Results:We observed that the incidence within our specialized unit had a peek in 2011 with 197 cases, male gender appeared to have a higher incidence from 2009 to 2014, and the months with a higher number od cases were March and December.
Conclusions:Having represented the results of only one state that has shown to be at a low risk of incidence for burn injuries and realizing that the numbers are relatively high, makes us realice that burn injuries represent an important public health issue nationwide.
